The Story

The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, inaugurated in 1995 by Pramukh Swami Maharaj, the spiritual leader of the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, is the first traditional Hindu Mandir of its kind in Europe. The temple was constructed in accordance with the principles of ancient Indian Shilpa Shastras, without the use of any structural steel.

The construction process involved 152 Indian craftsmen who worked on 2,828 tonnes of Bulgarian limestone and 2,000 tonnes of Italian marble. These materials were then transported to India and assembled in a manner similar to a large jigsaw puzzle.

The Haveli is used as a venue for exhibitions, seminars, and cultural events.
